SEAFORD TOWN CLERK RESIGNS

July 2 2014.

Seaford Town Clerk Sam Shippen, who has been on suspension since April, has resigned. A joint statement agreed by Seaford Town Council and Samantha Shippen issued yesterday evening states:

"This is a joint press release by Seaford Town Council and Samantha Shippen, Seaford Town Clerk, as agreed on 25th June 2014.

The confidential investigation process at the Town Council has now concluded. The Town Council and Mrs Shippen have now had an opportunity to meet and discuss the findings. Both the Council and Mrs Shippen accept that the matters under investigation are complex, deep-seated and difficult to resolve. To enable both the Council and Mrs Shippen to move on from the situation Mrs Shippen has offered her resignation which the Council has accepted.

The Council and Mrs Shippen consider the matter closed and will be making no further comment. The Council wishes Mrs Shippen well in the future and to thank her for the positive contributions she has made to the Town Council."
