SEAFORD DAY HOSPITAL OPENING SOON

June 11 2014.

A packed meeting of the Seaford Seniors Forum took place on Monday, when the new Seaford Day Hospital was under discussion. The meeting, which was held in St Thomas’ church in Seaford, had a representative present from the new owner of the day hospital, Horder Healthcare.

Commenting on the meeting Maria Caulfield, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Seaford, said: “The meeting was an opportunity for residents to highlight the services they would like to see available in Seaford Day Hospital when it reopens. The hospital is due to reopen on the 1st of August and discussions to confirm which services could be provided there are currently taking place with the local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) so this meeting couldn’t be better timed.”

The meeting heard about the renovation that is currently taking place and the timetable of events including open days when members of the public will get to see for themselves the state of the art facilities available.

On the services that are needed Maria said: “The current provision for health services in Seaford is poor. We have great GP’s but no other facilities and so for simple tests such as x rays, people are travelling for miles to Eastbourne and many are elderly or have no transport of their own which is far from ideal. Seaford is the largest town in the constituency and so I am really pleased that at last some services are coming to the town rather than leaving it. I am currently taking to local residents across Seaford to identity the services they would like to see and the big message from residents is they would ideally like a minor injuries unit in this town.”

The meeting finished with everyone wishing Horder Health Care luck with the opening of the hospital in August.
