VOLVER SHOWS AT HILLCREST

June 2 2014.

The next cult status film to be presented by Hillcrest Film Society is Volver, a modern classic Spanish language film with subtitles, starring Pene´lope Cruz. The film starts at 7.30pm on Saturday the 21st of June.

With its richness, colour and warmth, this Almodovar movie is set to capture your heart. A lyrical work of exquisite tenderness for anyone, Volver, (Coming Home), is a gripping melodrama. Penelope Cruz is Raimunda, a hard-working woman with a teenage daughter, Paula, and a layabout husband. With her sister Sole ,(Lola Duen~as) ,she tends to the graves of her parents, and visits her ailing Aunt Paula, (Chus Lampreave), who is in the final stages of dementia. Past and present collide for the two sisters when the aunt dies and forces three generations of women to atone for their past, as murder and betrayal punctuate time-honoured themes tackled in the director’s charismatic style.
