The Martello Rotary Club of Seaford is constructing a directional plaque on the seafront at Seaford, with a legacy from the late Claire Ivory , a past president of the club ,who sadly passed away in 2009 .

Claire had a great interest in Rotary the world over, and the plaque will be a directional and distance indicator showing the direction and distance in miles from Seaford to cities located in the geographical areas of Greenland, America, Europe, Africa , Asia and Australia.

Claire had a great interest in fighting poverty through Rotary, and in her presidential year encouraged support for water projects in remote villages in Nepal.

The plaque is being constructed from a legacy left by Claire in her will , and was designed by Rotarian Anthony Reynolds in conjunction with Tilley Stonemasons Ltd. of Brighton . It will be the property of Seaford Town Council, and the plaque is being built by Rotarian Shaughn Arkwell .

The Martello Rotary Club is planning to hold an unveiling ceremony on the evening of Monday the 2nd of June at 6.30pm at which the town’s Mayor, Councillor Mark Brown , and members of Claire’s family will be present.
