SPLASHPOINT MAIL

COP OUT

Many thanks for this update regarding Splash Point- I would like to make the following observation;

Splash Point is very much part of the Flood defence for Seaford, this is the reason visitors to it will notice the rock armour to the immediate east of Splash Point, below the adjacent cliffs. These were put in place probably around 20 years or so ago because behind the chalk lies sandstone. There was very great concern at the time that if nothing was done to prevent sea damage to the chalk it could breach into the sandstone and very quickly afterwards flood the east end of the town, all through Martello Fields.

For the EA to claim that Splash Point is not a part of its flood defence remit is a cop out and simply not true.
