WAVE LEISURE HEALTH WALK LEADERS PRESENT £476 TO CANCER RESEARCH UK

April 25 2014.

The Wave Leisure Trust Health walkers were delighted to be able to present a cheque for £476.42 last week to Cancer Research UK. Half was presented by the walkers from Peacehaven and the other by the Seaford walkers.

The money has been raised over the past 12 months through a series of charity walks and social events organised and attended by the health walk participants. The Health Walk leaders are all volunteers, who undergo training and development to organise and lead the walks on a weekly basis throughout the year.

Health walks are short walks led by trained volunteers, and are generally held on level ground. The walks provide both warm-ups and stretches to loosen any stiff muscles. The Wave Leisure volunteers operate walk in Lewes, Peacehaven and Seaford. The walks are suitable for all levels of ability but you must be able to walk for up to a mile.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent charity dedicated to cancer research. They carry out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. They have discovered new ways to beat cancer that together have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world.

One in three people will get cancer at some point in their lives. Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, funded almost entirely by the general public, will ensure that millions more people survive.
