LDC BUSINESS AWARDS SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

April 3 2014

Lewes District Council has announced the shortlist for the first-ever Lewes District Business Awards.

Twenty six companies from across the District have been named as finalists each hoping to win one-or-more of the ten trophies up for grabs - including the prestigious ‘Company of the Year’ and ‘Best Independent Retailer’ - along with special awards to recognise innovation and entrepreneurship.

Celebrating excellence amongst the District’s business community, the Awards create a fantastic opportunity for many different types of businesses to come together and celebrate the success of the District’s business talent and achievements.

The wide variety of awards has ensured that a diverse range of businesses from all sectors have participated; from family-run businesses to national organisations, the entries represent businesses that are excelling in all areas including customer service, community work, retail, sustainability, innovation and tourism.

Hugh Burnett OBE, DL, FCA, chairman of the judges, commented: “We are delighted with the response to the first-ever Lewes District Business Awards.

“The Awards have attracted a great number of companies from across the area, illustrating that our local businesses are keener than ever to promote themselves and gain the recognition they deserve. Congratulations to all the shortlist and I look forward to seeing you all on the night!”

Lewes District Council leader Rob Blackman said: “These Awards, celebrating excellence amongst the District’s business community, create a fantastic opportunity for many different types of business to come together and celebrate the success of the District’s business talent and achievement. I look forward to meeting local businesses at the ceremony on 24th April.”

Winners will be announced on Thursday April 24th at the Lewes Town Hall and presented by one of Britain’s best-known newsreaders, Nicholas Owen.
