SEAHAVEN FM TRIBUTE TO DON MABEY

March 5.

Don Mabey MBE and Freeman of Seaford passed away in December and now life of this extraordinary man is to be celebrated in a special radio show on Seahaven FM this Saturday.

Bob Peedle MBE will be presenting this show that will have many guests from far and wide talking about Don’s life and service.

Don was a World War II veteran and made over 80 missions as wireless operator and air gunner in the Wellington and Warwick bombers. In later life he raised thousands of pounds for the RAF and other charities for which he was awarded the MBE by the Queen in the New Year’s honours list in 2013.

Bob Peedle is no stranger to Broadcasting on Seahaven FM as he did a very popular show, Forces on Parade, until November 2012. Nick Mallinson, Station Manager at Seahaven FM said, “Bob’s show always had lots of guests talking about their lives in the services and their local connections. From time-to-time Don was one of those guests and the stories he had to tell were astonishing. It is only by listening to people like Don that you get any kind of idea of what it was like back in the war years in the 1940s. It is a huge privilege to have Bob back to do this tribute for Don”.

You can hear the show this Saturday afternoon (March 8th) at 3pm on Seahaven FM. If you are in Peacehaven, Newhaven or Seaford and Lewes you can hear the broadcast on 96.3 FM or you can listen online at www.seahavenfm.com
