Police in Seaford are warning residents to be on their guard following two recent burglaries in the town. Sometime between 6.45 pm on Monday the 3rd of February and 11.00am the following day, a house in Beacon Road was broken into when an intruder forced a rear door. An untidy search was carried out and a wooden jewellery box and a quantity of jewellery was stolen. The jewellery box is covered in grey vinyl and is 18" by 12" by 9".

Meanwhile, in another part of town, a property in Meads Road was entered between 6.30am and 12.20pm on the following day. In this case a kitchen door at the side of the property was forced. An untidy search was carried out and some jewellery stolen.

Sergeant Stuart Mullins said: "Despite the distance between the properties we are not ruling out a possible link between these burglaries. In both cases entry was gained by forcing inwards a lower UPVC panel in a rear or side door. While we urge all residents to always be security concious, at this time I would suggest that those with similar doors perhaps review their security arrangements. Not all such doors are vulnerable and an intruder could try and break in in any one of a number of ways. However, this seems to be a favoured method of entry for whoever is behind these two offences.

"If anybody who sees any suspicious activity around their own or a neighbour's properties they should call the police emergency number 999 straight away."
