FRIENDS OF TIDE MILLS DECEMBER REPORT

December 20 2013.

Jim Skinner reports:

The Friends of Tide Mills completed its December/Christmas meeting last Sunday, the 15th. 16 of us recovered 8 sacks of assorted rubbish from this special place, along with several bulkier items.

We were very pleased to welcome two new members to our steadily growing but still very jolly band.

The amount of rubbish found was at least in part due to the recent gales and generally Tide Mills remains in very good shape, largely down to people now taking more interest in the area and taking their litter home - Brilliant.

In addition to our littering efforts, we also managed to widen a stretch of path next to the Creek, which in time we hope to complete all the way down to the Newhaven end. It is to be hoped that as we continue to make good progress in littering the site we will be able to increasingly undertake similar work in the future.

After our meeting we held our annual, and this year unfortunately rather damp, Christmas Picnic.

Our first meeting of 2014 is Sunday the 19th of January. W meet at the beach end of the Old Village Road that runs up from the Level Crossing, from 10.00am until noon. As always, all are welcome, irrespective of the amount of time that can be given.
