CRACKER OF A CHRISTMAS FAIR

December 12 2013.

RNLI Announcement:

RNLI Newhaven wish thanks go to all stallholders and visitors alike for helping to achieve a resounding successful result at the recent Christmas Fair held at the Hillcrest Centre, Newhaven, raising almost £1000.00.

The year has proven to be one of the busiest for lifeboat call outs. This has resulted in the volunteer crew being required more than usual, often in the most extreme of weather conditions. Secretary for Newhaven & District Lifeboat Society, Graham Hillman, said, ‘"The people of the district continue to show their support for their local lifeboat and we are always most appreciative."

The Christmas Fair saw a large turn-out, with many people enjoying the variety of stalls. The local Co-Operative supermarket kindly donated the Christmas pudding for the raffle, local choir Haven Harmonies, pictured here, sang beautiful seasonal songs and children enjoyed the visit from Father Christmas.

The next fundraising event will be on Friday 31st January at Newhaven Lifeboat House from 11.30am to 2.00pm where, for only £3.50, visitors can enjoy some warming soup and cheese roll at the annual Slurp Our Soup event, which forms part of the National SOS Day for the RNLI.
