GEOFF IN LINE FOR BBC AWARD

November 19 2013.

Geoff Stonebanks, from Driftwood Open Garden in Bishopstone was surprised to find last week that many of his garden visitors had nominated him for one of the BBC Sussex Community Heroes Awards for fundraising, after successfully raising nearly £32000 for various charities over the past four years through opening his garden, Driftwood -
www.driftwoodbysea.co.uk - and organising garden trails for both Macmillan Cancer Support and the local Seaford Mayor.

Nicci Holliday, from BBC Radio Sussex, told Geoff that he had received more nominations than any other nominee in the awards.

Details of the awards can be found at: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p001d777/features/bbc-sussex-community-awards
The awards  ceremony takes place on the 11th of December.

Geoff was interviewed earlier this week on BBC Radio Sussex's Dig It programme and you can listen to the interview at:

Geoff says he is happy to accept the nomination on behalf of all the people who help him when he opens his garden and organises the two garden trails.

We wish him well on the 11th of December
