NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT COXWAIN MEETS THE QUEEN

November 1 2013.

Newhaven lifeboat Coxswain Paul Legendre met the Queen during her visit to the town yesterday. Her Majesty visited Bickerstaff’s fish marketand shop on the West Quay and met local fisherman, boat builders and emergency services representatives, including the Newhaven Coxswain, Paul Legendre.

Paul explained: "It was an incredibly proud moment to meet the Queen. HerMajesty said that she has seen the TV footage of our search the previous Sunday and she clearly has great admiration for all the emergency services. She asked me to thank all the crew for their efforts. I was honoured to represent the RNLI, our amazing crew of volunteers and the people of Newhaven who give us so much support.

"After the royal visitors left, the crowds lined the quay side clapping and cheering the Newhaven lifeboat crew, which made us all feel incredibly proud. So thank you to the people of Newhaven"
