LEISURE FACILITIES NOW AVAILABLE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS YOUNGSTERS IN SEAFORD

October 18 2013.

Wave Leisure is the latest leisure provider to sign up to the i-go scheme and offer leisure facilities in Seaford at special rates to holders of an i-go card.

i-go is the passport to leisure activities for children and young people with disabilities and special needs in East Sussex. Leisure partners, such as Wave Leisure, offer special rates to i-go card holders, free access to their carers and help with their day out as needed. Facilities available in Seaford include:

• Downs Leisure Centre

• Seaford Head Swimming Pool

• Seaford Head Sports Facility

All venues taking part in the i-go scheme also have a dedicated ‘i-go champion’ to make the visit more enjoyable. i-go cardholders can organise hassle-free family days out by consulting the i-go guide or calling 0345 60 80 192.

The scheme is run by East Sussex County Council in partnership with Rockinghorse Children’s Charity and has received funding from the Big Lottery Fund. It was officially launched this summer at the American Express Community Stadium, by Paralympian Ben Quilter.

Councillor Tidy, lead member for children and families at East Sussex County Council said: “This is a marvellous scheme that enables young people with special needs to enjoy the same leisure facilities we all take for granted.

“It’s great to see so many leisure partners have already signed up to i-go and we look forward to seeing many more joining the scheme and offering young people in East Sussex all the help and support they need.”

Peter Crowley, managing director of Wave Leisure said: "Wave Leisure is delighted to be a partner in the i-go scheme. I hope that by seeing the logo, young people and their families are encouraged to try out new activities or ask  the questions they need answered in order to participate. Ensuring that the facilities and activities are as accessible as possible for everyone in our community is important in Wave Leisure's mission to inspire active lifestyles."
