November 16 2013.

A Newhaven woman required hospital treatment and her dog was also injured when they were attacked by another dog in the town's Lewes Road recreation ground.

The woman was walking her dog at around 5.50pm on Sunday, October the 6th, when they were attacked by a dog described as ginger/brown in colour with a smooth coat and looking like a pitbull breed.

Police want to speak to two women who were with the dog. One is described as white, 5' 5", in her 20s and of large build. She had shoulder length bleach blonde hair and spoke with a southern accent.

The second woman was pushing a buggy with a child in it. She is also white, around 5' 7", in her late teens, of average build and with shoulder length straightened brown hair.

PC Justin Denney from Newhaven Police said: "This was obviously very frightening for the woman and her dog. She had to have hospital treatment for puncture wounds to her arm and her dog was also injured. One of the women with the offending dog put a muzzle on it, but refused to provide any details. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call us on 101 quoting serial 1205 of 06/10."
