TIDEWAY WALK

September 24 2013.

This Friday students from Tideway School will embark on their annual Sponsored Walk. Students and staff will join together for the nine mile round trip from Newhaven to Seaford.

The sponsored walk is a time honoured Tideway tradition stretching back for more than 30 years. Come rain or shine, the walk has taken place and many local former pupils and parents will remember taking part.

The walk raises money for local charities that have a personal link with the students at the school. The charities change from year to year depending on the focus for the students. This year the sponsored walk will raise money for:
James Daniel Memorial Fund and Haydn's Wish: www.haydns-wish.co.uk/haydns-story

Both charities were started after the untimely deaths of two local boys. Their families and friends have raised money to make a positive impact on the local community and especially help the young people in Newhaven.

"It's one thing to talk about doing something, but it is much better to get up and do something positive. It is great to see our students walk the talk," said Assistant Headteacher, Mark Newham-Reeve.

"It is great to see the students engage so positively with the sponsored walk. It gives them an opportunity to put something back" added Headteacher, Rob Corbett.
