FRESH START FOR NEWHAVEN MARKET

July 25 2013.

Newhaven Chamber of Commerce is looking for new companies and individuals who are interested in selling or displaying at the soon to be re-launched twice-weekly Newhaven Market, following its success in securing a £10,000 award under the Portas Scheme.

The market will be re-launched on August the 10th and the Chamber of Commerce has already received positive feedback from new stall-holders, including local suppliers of fresh fish, bread, cakes, flowers, coffee, cheese and a wide variety of live entertainment.

"We are aiming to attract a wide and eclectic mix of stall holders, from the traditional consumable suppliers through to local companies wishing to showcase their goods and services, to small or individual start-ups, who want to have a go," explains Chamber of Commerce market co-ordinator, Gillian Smith.

"There are lots of people who have great business or supply ideas, but they are wary of making expensive first steps. We want to help those people realise those ideas and offer them a free stall for a period of time, so they can try out and develop their ideas with the public and with others in a similar position.

"We need the Newhaven market to become more than just a lively and entertaining shopping experience. We need it to become a showcase for Newhaven, its businesses and its people," says Gillian.
