July 19 2013.

Various rumours and so-called plans have been floated about the future of the former M&Co shop in Newhaven High Street and how it could be improved...

Dear Haven News

A whinge...

I've just heard through the grapevine here in Newhaven that the eyesore that is the entrance up to the old night club in the High Street is to be retained by East Sussex County Council.

As I understand it, the new library will be downstairs in the old M & Co premises, with upstairs being turned into flats accessed from the rear, (North Lane).

This small piece of land in the High Street was where mention had been made of building a small bandstand for the benefit of the community. Nearly everyone I've spoken to thinks it's just what the town centre needs to keep the community spirit alive in these austere times, but NO!! Those high up have different plans.

Come on ESCC - get with the beat!!
