MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ROAD ACCIDENT AT SOUTH HEIGHTON

Emergency services were called to a two vehicle collision on the A26 at South Heighton at 12.55pm yesterday. The collision resulted in both the male driver aged 61 and the female passenger aged 57 from a Fiat Punto having to be cut free from the wreckage. Both were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with the driver having suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 62-year-old local woman, was also taken to hospital with suspected fractures.

The road was closed for over four hours to remove the wreckage and to enable a thorough investigation by the forensic collision and reconstruction unit.
