NEWHAVEN AWARDED £10,000 TO DEVELOP MARKET - MAIL

July 10 2013.

News of the 10,000 award to re-generate the twice-weekly market in Newhaven High Street can olg be good for the future of the town centre, but there are still concerns.

PROVE ME WRONG
Reference Diane Hall's comment, "Perhaps LDC and ESCC could be pressured into allowing FREE parking in the car parks on those days?"

Absolutely.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that it's people who make a market, not councils. But councils can kill a local incentive when they look to see what THEY can make out of it.

Buyers, (or at the very least browsers), are what the High Street needs if the councils, and dare I say it, councillors, realise this and change the parking charges we may get a revitalised street market. However, being the old cynic that I am, I suspect that there will be no change, and after a "reasonable" period it will all die back down to the current level, or lower and the money will have been wasted.

Prove me wrong.

GREAT NEWS - BUT PARKING AGAIN....
What great news!

Perhaps LDC and ESCC could be pressured into allowing FREE parking in the car parks on those days?

That would help and give incentive to people to attend the markets.

GREAT NEWS - BUT PARKING...

This is great news!

Now the council need to waive or reduce parking charges, make people in Brighton and Hove and East Sussex aware that there is a market, tear down the barricades at the West Beach and we might have a bit of life in the town!
