July 5th 2013.

Free event programmes will be available from the Boathouse and Huggetts Green tomorrow for the annual  RNLI Newhaven Lifeboat Summer Fete at Huggetts Green on the West Quay.

The free to enter event will be celebrating 210 years of the Newhaven Lifeboat service and a range of children's activities, as well as food stalls and various displays will be live throughout the afternoon. The Boathouse will also be open to the public, subject, of course, to operational requirements.

On Sunday, the 7th of July, the Newhaven Lifeboat and Coastguard Helicopter have been booked for a training display to take place just off Seaford Beach from 11.00am, with running commentary from the beach. Donations on the day will be welcomed. The event is, of course, subject to operational requirements.

The week of activites continues with the RNLI Newhaven hosting The GuestHouse Storytellers at the Lifeboat House the West Quay on Tuesday the 9th of July, with storytelling beginning at 7.30pm.

Storytelling is the oldest form of human communication and is growing in popularity across the world. We all love to hear a good story, well told. It is a shared experience created between teller and listener and people who have attended an adult storytelling for the first time often say that they never expected it to be so vivid or moving.

The Guesthouse Storytellers is a community storytelling club for adults and has been running for seven years. It is one of the most successful storytelling clubs in the country.

Professional storyteller Jamie Crawford opens the evening of 'Snow White, Blood Red - Fairytales for Adults' and the evening promises to be enjoyable and entertaining.

Tickets are £5.00 from the Hillcrest Centre, Hillcrest Road, Newhaven BN9 9EA, or on the door.
