Unemployment in the Lewes constituency is down according to Norman Baker. Figures obtained by the local MP show that the number of people unemployed in May was 239 lower than a year earlier and 29 lower than the previous month of April 2013.

Nationally, the number of people in employment for the quarter from February 2013 to April was 29.76million, up 24,000 from the previous quarter and 432,000 on the same time last year.

Norman says: "We must of course not be complacent and have to continue to stimulate job creation because times continue to be tough, but these local unemployment figures are certainly promising, and it is good to see that employment is rising nationally as well."
