Newhaven pub The Ark raised £686.37 for the RNLI from a fundraising event held last month which included live bands, a barbeque, stalls and a Harley-Davidson club meeting. The funds represented 50% of the total raised on the day, with the other half going to the Help for Heroes charity. In recognition of her efforts, landlady Bobbie Whitfield was presented with an RNLI shield by Newhaven lifeboat Coxswain, Paul Legendre.
Bobby explained: 'We are delighted to support our local lifeboat station, as the work the whole crew does, in often in very difficult conditions, is really appreciated by the local community. Many of our customers are fisherman and boat owners, so we have close ties to the Lifeboat Station and crew.'
Paul Legendre added:' The event at The Ark was a huge success and we would like to pass on our thanks to all who helped make it a such a special occasion.'
