The quiz night held at Newhaven Lifeboat House was once again a resounding success, with £372.58 being raised for the RNLI. The quizzing participants enjoyed a delicious fish and chips supper supplied by Newhaven Fish Bar in South Road and Lyn Davies was a fantastic quizmaster, keeping everyone in good order.

There was no doubting who made the evening a truly winning one though. Newhaven & District Lifeboat Society was fortunate to be approached by three young ladies from Tideway School who are working towards completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Jessica, Ali and Holly (pictured with Lyn Davies), all gave up their Saturday night to volunteer their hospitality skills and assist with the initial set up for the event, the sale of raffle tickets and the distribution of the fish and chips to the quizzers, to name just a few of the many tasks they willingly undertook. Their assistance throughout the whole evening was invaluable, especially when bearing in mind there were 60 people to cater for.

The next fundraising event will be a Spring Book Fair on Saturday 16th March from 10am - 12pm at the Hillcrest Centre, Hillcrest Road, Newhaven BN9 9EA.
