The Seahaven Business Awards are designed to recognise and reward the businesses that always put customer service first, the businesses which show a real commitment to their staff, the businesses which take pride in being part of the community and businesses which drive to succeed in the current economic climate.

This year there will be six awards for companies and individuals based in and around the BN9, BN25 and BN10 postcode areas. Businesses can even nominate themselves in one or more of the categories, or nominate any other business. Companies and individuals can be entered into more than one category. Entry is free. The judging panel will include our M.P. Norman Baker, the President of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Newhaven, and other judges from the Seahaven area.

Closing date for nominations is Friday April 12 2013 and the judges' decision will be announced at the Chamber President's Gala Dinner on Friday 10 May 2013 at Woody's Bar and Grill, (Peacehaven Golf Club), where the winners will receive their Seahaven Business Award trophy.

The six categories are as follows:

? Business personality of the Year sponsored by The Sussex Sign Company

? Best Retailer of the Year sponsored by Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery

? Best Customer Service sponsored by Wave Leisure

? Environmental Business sponsored by Co-op Funeral Care

? President's Award - NEW FOR 2013 sponsored by Newhaven Enterprise Centre - This new award for 2013 is an 'open' award - each year the current President will decide on the criteria - For 2013 this award will be a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' - nominations are invited for businesses that deserve to be recognised for their long-term business contribution in the Seahaven area.

Annie Lorys, the President of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce said: 'The Seahaven Business Awards provide an opportunity for businesses in the Seahaven area to gain special recognition from their peers. Being nominated and then winning an award sends out the message that your firm is good to do business with and that this particular company enjoys a status and recognition within the business community.
