ROTARY CLUB OF SEAFORD - RECORD COLLECTION FOR SANTA'S 'GREEN' SLEIGH

December 31 2012.

The main focus of the Rotary Club of Seaford's attention during December has been, as usual, the Christmas Sleigh, and this year a total of over £8,700 has been raised, which is a new record.

Earlier in the year the Rotary Elves made modifications to the sleigh to make it more ecolologically friendly and cheaper to run in the long term. These new 'green' savings were achieved by fitting an inverter, which provides power from the car onto the sleigh, and low-power lighting. As a result the sleigh looked better than ever with the LED lights giving a much brighter effect, and it was wonderful to see the joy on the children's faces when the sleigh came into view.

The Rotary Club of Seaford  takes Father Christmas and his sleigh out on 19 evenings throughout December, as well as appearing in Broad Street each Saturday morning and on Christmas Eve morning. All of this requires considerable resources, and the Club thanked its various partners, friends and the people of Seaford for their support and generosity to enable the Club to achieve a new record of funds raised, all of which will be used to benefit the town and its people in one form or other.
