ESCC SET TO SELL 47 ACRES FOR £1

November 26 2012.

East Sussex County Council is to consider a recommendation to sell the 47 acre Riverside Park site next to the recently sold Lewes Road Rec site to Round Table Entertainments for £1.00.

Whilst this news is certain to raise a few eyebrows, there are a number of conditions attached to the proposed sale as outlined in the Agenda for tomorrow's ESCC meeting.

Point 2.8 of the Agenda reads:

The Council recognise that these proposals are at their conception. It is proposed, that

the Council will retain ownership and that the property will remain open to the public until certain key conditions are met. In particular these are:

i) Grant of planning consent to enable the development to proceed.

ii) That the purchaser demonstrates the availability of the necessary funds to

enable the development to proceed.

iii) That the purchaser agrees a scheme of environmental mitigation that will be

necessitated by the development.

iv) That in the event of the developer being unable to complete its construction

project the site's ownership will revert to the Council for the sum of £1.

v) That the purchaser provides a bond to cover the costs that the Council would

incur to remediate the site in the event of the purchaser being unable to

complete the construction project.
