SEAFORD HEAD SCHOOL ANNUAL AWARDS EVENING
October 25 2012.
The Rotary Club of Seaford has continued its support of the Seaford Head School Annual Awards by sponsoring the awards for English Key Stage 3, Maths Key Stage 4, and French Key Stage 4. Club President Paul Vaesen and Chair of Vocational and Youth Opportunities Jim Anderson represented the Club at the Annual Awards Evening, which was introduced by the Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl.
In fact the title is a bit of a misnomer as the evening is very much a celebration of the school life and achievements over the last 12 months. Proud parents and other guests packed the Upper School to be entertained by students performing dance, playing musical instruments, and singing, all to a standard that made one envious of the talent they showed. There was also a slide show covering many of the activities involving the students with the high spot possibly being the Geography visit to Greenland.
Keynote speeches congratulating the students and staff on another successful year were made by Head teacher Lynton Golds and our MP Norman Baker.
As well as the academic awards there were also special prizes for Service to the School and Service to the Community, along with the Mayor's Cup for Endeavour, presented by the Mayor, Cllr. Linda Wallraven, and the Tom Carter Award for the Performing Arts in memory of a former student at the school.
Overall it was a very well run evening which showed how the school is continuing to develop and expand. Clearly state secondary education in our town is in good hands.
