MAIL RE: E.ON WINDFARM BASE FOR NEWHAVEN

October 4 2012.

STEVE SAYS THANKS
I telephoned Captain François Jean today, to personally congratulate him and his team on the fantastic news that their hard work has paid off and the Wind Farm is coming to Newhaven.

I attended meetings with E.ON last year, along with NPP and Norman Baker, as Mayor and representative of Newhaven Town Council, where we showed our committment and support to the the Port and the project. We have always understood that the Port operations are an integral part of the future regeneration of Newhaven and I am sure that this will be the catalyst for a re-vitalised Port and will help put Newhaven back on the map.

The 85 permanent jobs that will be created as part of the development will hopefully be only a small part of the opportunities for tourism in the long term and for hotels, bed and breakfast establishments, restaurants and businesses and the like, catering for the workforces involved in the construction in the short term.

The NPP dream of Newhaven becoming an E Port for the future, looks to be on track.

I'd like to say a big thank you to E.ON for choosing Newhaven for the operations and maintenance of the future Rampion Offshore Windfarm and to the Team at NPP for the success of their winning bid.

WELL DONE!

Cllr. Steve Saunders
