The finalists for the prestigious What's On 4 Me 2012 Awards have just been announced  and Marilyn Nolan from Newhaven is amongst them!

The What's On 4 Award programmes are now in their sixth year and celebrate the best activities from throughout the UK - both for kids and adults - as nominated and voted for by the UK public.

Marilyn Nolan, 66, is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category, which means she received votes to place them in the top places in the UK.

This year the awards cover 12 categories from Best Activity Provider to Best Volunteering Group or Individual. Hundreds of nominations and thousands of votes have been received, so to be in the top places in the UK is a massive achievement.

Grandmother of four Marilyn volunteers for Denton and South Heighton Junior Football Club, the RNIB, Seaford Musical Theatre, the Mayor of Seaford's supported charities and the Meridian Mature Citizens Forum. In the little spare time she has, she bakes for friends, family and colleagues.

Marilyn said: "I feel very honoured just to have been nominated and I'm very grateful to all the people who took the time and trouble to vote for me."

What's On 4 Me owner - Marilyn Bradshaw adds: "I'm so excited about our 2012 Awards. Everyone through to this stage should be very, very proud that the UK public is so keen to place them in the top positions in the UK. I can't wait to announce the deserved Winners!"
