SEAFORD MUSICAL THEATRE JUNIORS SCOOP YOUTH ON BOARD AWARD

October 3 2012.

The Seaford Musical Theatre Juniors have been awarded the Inspiring Project Award from the British Youth Council as part of the Youth On Board Awards, an exclusively youth-led rolling award scheme that recognises innovative and exciting youth participation, both from young people and the projects and organisations that support them.

SMT Juniors are a charity volunteer-run musical theatre group for young people aged 8-17. Their youth band is led by a 17 year old musical director and learning opportunities are offered to young members in all aspects of the theatre, including writing, producing, directing and performing.

Co-founder Paula Woolven said: "We are delighted to have been recognised by the British Youth Council with this award. We try to involve our young members in as many aspects of musical theatre as we can, helping them to learn and develop in areas that interest them, as well as having fun performing our original scripts."

SMT Juniors are currently developing another first for the Barn Theatre in Seaford; a dinner theatre performance of an original musical script called 'Food for Thought' which will be performed in December.
