ROTARY MARKETS FINISH ON A HIGH

September 25 2012.

The Rotary Club of Seaford, famous locally for its Father Christmas Sleigh Collection, has announced a total of almost £2,500 raised from this soggy summer from its Car Boot, Craft and Produce Markets - all going to local charitable causes.

The final market at the Martello Fields last weekend saw dozens of car boot stallholders mixed with a fair sprinkling of produce sellers and some fine examples of local craft manufacturers. The fast food specialist did his best-ever business in Seaford this year, the Bouncy Castle was quite busy with the kids and even the ice cream man sold a few cornets. Not that the sun actually shone for long. The big bonus was Seaford's Mr Music Man, Chris Foster, whose Karaoke-cum-busker style had punters and vendors alike dancing down and singing along thanks to Seaford Lifeguards generously providing their electricity generator to power Chris's music machines. Seaford will see more of Chris at future Rotary events, perhaps even at the indoor market the Club is now considering staging this winter to make up for the July wash-out. The Club is now seeking a space big enough to house at least 40 stalls to put this event into action.

To learn more about the Rotary movement, and especially the local club, see the window displays at the former Clearview shop in High Street, Seaford. Be quick as the display is scheduled to move to the former C.H.Seymour establishment in Sutton Park Road.
