Once again the sun arrives in time for the weekend here in the Haven, and what a weekend of fun, music, action and entertainment there is in store for us lucky Haveners and Haven visitors. The annual Seaford Live! kicks off tonight with a whole week of events, (just click on the image here to enlarge and save to see the full menu of Seaford Live! events), but there is plenty happening at the Newhaven end of the Haven as well. So get on your glad rags and hit the towns to support your local events and businesses...
Seaford Live! leaps into life tonight with the
Seaford Baptist Church Concert, but unfortunately, popular Folk/Rock band
Bucklers Reel, who were scheduled to appear at the
Cinque Ports, wont be. Don't let that ruin your evening though, because over in Newhaven,
Kelly's Heros are rocking at
The White Hart in the High Street, while up on the hill at South Heighton, the
Brass Monkeys are making a popular return at
The Hampden Arms for Michaela, the landlady's birthday. All together now: Happy Birthday to you....
On to Saturday and once again you can start it with a
Zumba session at the
Hillcrest Centre in Newhaven from 9.30 to 10.30 and then wander down to the High Street to snatch a bargain or two at the
Newhaven Market, or over to the
RNLI Car Boot Sale at Paradise Park from 9.00am - 1.00pm.
Seaford Live! continues with a
'We Built This City' preview in
Tansley's Yard at noon, a
lunchtime concert at St. Leonard's Church at 1.00pm and a
'Let Music Sound' concert in
Crouch Gardens at 3.00pm.
On to the evening and there is the
Mencap Quiz Night at Riverside Hall, West Quay, Newhaven from 7.30pm-10.30pm, while on the music front, great covers band
Loose Moose are playing at
The White Hart in Newhaven, and back down on the West Quay, totally original and excellent
Dr Scardo are dishing out their own unique set at
The Ark.
Back in Seaford and
The ROCKiTS are at
The Shore and the
Fabulous Baker Boys are at
The White Lion. Running throughout Saturday and Sunday, we have
Heritage Open Days at Seaford Museum in the Martello Tower. 11:00am (2:30pm Saturday) - 4:30pm. Free entry with special events on Sunday.
The Artwave Festival also continues over the weekend at
Driftwood, 4, Marine Drive Bishopstone Seaford from midday. Ten artists work displayed in this stunning garden, take tea and cake amongst the artists work. Proceeds and donations to
Macmillan Cancer Support. For details go to

Battle of Britain Day and at Newhaven Fort. A day of 1940s celebration and commemoration, featuring the
Swingtime Sweethearts, Seaford Silver Band, Brighton Boogie Dancers, Living history displays.
It's also the
Sunnyside Caravan Park Fete at Marine Parade, Seaford from 11.00am - 3.00pm,
All proceeds to the RNLI Lifeboat. Sit-n-ride steam train, face painter, plate smash, tombola, cakes, toys, bric a brac, books, jumble, raffle, refreshments and lots, lots more. For more information, call 01323 892825.
Sing the weekend away at
The Bay Tree in Seaford at the regular
Karaoke. Or just go along and have a good laugh.
