HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

August 31 2012.

Another short week of showers and sunshine and it's into another weekend, packed to bursting with things to do, see, watch, listen to, join in or spend your money at. So let's all get out there and support our wide and varied local Haven events. Why would you even think of leaving the area when it's all happening right here!

Friday night and Newhaven is rocking to the sounds of No Way Out at the White Hart. This is a classic rock band covering everything LOUD, from AC/DC to ZZ Top.

Up on the hill at South Heighton the music plays on at The Hampden Arms, with Alter Ego, a four piece cover band playing a bit of everything - Rock 'n Roll, Rhythm 'n Blues, Reggae, Rock and Soul from 50's to the present day. Get there for 9.00pm.

Over in Seaford it's the last ever night at the VBar. It's closing down and all stock must go, so go along and drink them dry. What is the future for the VBar? Will it revert to The Hole in the Wall or is it set to become a Bistro Bar? Watch this space....

On to Saturday and it's a BIG day in Newhaven. Start it off with a Zumba session at the Hillcrest Centre from 9.30am to 10.30am and then hit the Fete de Newhaven from 9.30am - 2.30pm in the High Street. Community group stalls, live entertainment, children's rides, Magician, The Dieppe Market with real French people selling real French stuff from France, and lots more.

The Newhaven action continues with the annual Engineer Charity Bash. Top local bands, The Riffz, Shot Rod, The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Rockits, The Firm and Random are all taking their turn to play throughout the day, plus a BBQ, Face Painting, Cake Stall, Hog Roast, Raffle and a Bouncy Castle. £4.00 adults. Under 14s free. It's from 2.00pm to 11.00pm at The Engineer in Station Road, Newhaven. All proceeds to local charities; Haydn's Wish and Chailey Heritage. Get there and listen to these great local bands, spend some money and do some good for these local charities.

Over in Seaford it promises to be a little quieter, but the Seaford Historic Guided Tour is always popular. Meet at Seaford Tourist Information Centre, 37 Church Street at 10.30am. Tours are at least one hour long. Tickets £5. A donation from ticket sales is made to Seaford & Alfriston Parish Churches. For more info, contact Seaford Tourist Information on 01323 897426.
