Police are seeking two bogus 'water board' callers suspected of stealing cash from an elderly man in Horam. At about 10.30am on Wednesday 29 August, a man called at the bungalow occupied by the 81-year old man just off the main street in the centre of Horam, saying there was problem with the water supply. Whilst he was in the house the occupant saw another man walking away from the front door. When the first man left the occupant realised that a large quantity of cash had been taken from the premises.

The first man is described as white, aged about 30, of medium build, about 5'10", with short brown hair, and wearing a green shirt. The second man is descibed as aged 35-40, and of muscular build, wearing a grey shirt and grey trousers.

Detective Constable Annie Nash of East Sussex CID said; "If you were in Horam on Wednesday morning and saw two men like this or have had callers at your door making reference to water problems in the area, please call us on 101 quoting serial 1072 of 29/8. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"This despicable pair need to be caught and any information will be welcomed. We also remind all residents, especially the elderly, to be very cautious about letting strangers into your home. Check identiites, and reasons for being there, especially of unexpected callers, and if in doubt, keep them out."
