MAX MILLER COMES TO NEWHAVEN

August 29 2012.

Newhaven Historical Society is presenting an evening of Max Miller memories at the Newhaven Hillcrest Centre on October 2nd, starting at 7.00 for 7.30pm.

John Henty, one of the original presenters on Radio Brighton in 1968, presents the story of the life and times of this wonderful comedian. Thomas Henry Sargent (21 November 1894 --7 May 1963), better known by the stage name Max Miller, the Cheeky Chappie, was a Brighton born and bred comedian who was top of the bill in variety in the 1930s, '40s and '50s. He made films, toured in revues and music hall, and sang and recorded songs. He was known for his flamboyant suits, his wicked charm, and his risqué jokes, which often got him into trouble with the censors.

Entry is just £2.00.
