August 26 26 2012.
Against all the earlier forecasts for a total wet weekend, the sun is out and set to stay for today, so here's a brief reminder of What's On in the Haven today:
Seaford Quality Street comes to
Seaford Promenade today between the West View Kiosk and the Salts Recreational Ground. During the event, local
Seaford Lifeguards will be showing how they aim to increase public safety on the beach and
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be giving information on fire safety, with emphasis on beach barbeques and safe disposal of equipment. There are restrictions in specified areas along Seaford beach which apply to dogs and the public can speak with local
animal wardens to get advice about where and when there are restrictions and the penalties in place for these and other offences. The
local environment agency will be attending for a
beach clean-up during the day and
Police and local
Town Councillors will be available throughout the day to offer advice, answer questions and provide information.
Over at
Newhaven Fort there is a showing of
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - A 2.00pm matinee screening of Roald Dahl's 1971 classic. That's the Gene Wilder one.
Running throughout today and tomorrow the
Artwave Festival is at
Driftwood, 4, Marine Drive Bishopstone Seaford.
Ten artists work will be displayed in this
stunning garden. Take tea and cake amongst the artists work. All proceeds and donations to Macmillan Cancer Support. For times across the weekend go to
www.geoffstonebanks.co.uk/artwave12.html Also continuing today and tomorrow, the
Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club 'Seaford Games Tourney' from 11.00am each day. Get down there to watch or ask how to join in at the clubhouse at the Buckle.
Tonight it's your turn to hit the high notes and maybe a few others as well with
Karaoke at the Bay Tree Inn in Seaford.
