HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

August 10 2012.

The sun has finally got his hat on and IT looks set to be a glorious weekend, which will be music to the ears for the organisers and participants of this weekend's headline event; Lark in the Park. All you have to do is avoid the Newhaven bridge opening at 4.45pm.....

It may be too hot for some, but for those inspired by Great Britain's Nicola Adams, the first female boxer to win an Olympic gold medal, the Ladies Boxing Club will meet tonight at the Hillcrest Community Centre, Newhaven, followed by the venue's regular Friday night Ballroom Dancing evening. The entertainment then moves up the hill to South Heighton where Fixed Wheel, a new band to the go-ahead Hampden Arms will be playing mixed covers.

On to Saturday; and keep trim at the Hillcrest Centre from 9.30am to 10.30am for Zumba, and then nip into the town centre of Newhaven for a market bargain. There's a Coffee Morning over at Denton Church Hall from 10.00am which will include a book and cake sale.

The big one for Saturday is South Heighton Village Hall's music festival Lark in the Park, on the green at South Heighton strangely enough. It's set to be a goodie, so much so that it seems the other pubs and clubs of the Haven area are deferring their own musical activities in favour of the annual event. Bands for this year include Tasteless, Fabulous Baker Boys, Brass Monkeys and popular locals Welcome to Nutsville. Entry fees are a modest £6 for adults and £3 for 12-18 year-olds, with accompanied under-12's free. 'Doors' open at 6.00pm, and the fun is set to go on until late...

It the Great Haven Outdoors is just tooooo much for you, then stay in The Ark and listen to Kelly's Heros. No info - So give them a chance!

The National Gardens Scheme Open Garden is at Driftwood, Marine Drive Bishopstone from 11.00am to 5.00pm on Sunday. As well as a beautiful garden, expect to find tea, coffee, cakes and a photographic and painting exhibition.

If you want to end the weekend in noisy fashion then get along to the Bay Tree Inn in Seaford for its regular Sunday night Karaoke.

Enjoy the weekend weather Haveners; it won't last!
