NEWHAVEN GRANDMOTHER REACHES NATIONAL AWARD FINALS

August 8 2012

Newhaven grandmother of four, Marilyn Nolan, was delighted to find that she has been chosen to go through to the finals of the Whats On 4 Me 2012 Awards in the Volunteer Of The Year category.

Marilyn, 66, has volunteered for Denton and South Heighton Junior Football Club for eight years, selling refreshments every weekend and acting as Club Treasurer and Committee Member.  She has raised thousands of pounds to support the Junior Football Club that her grandson, Kyle Woolven, plays for.

She also volunteers for the Seaford Musical Theatre as Front Of House Manager and for the Peacehaven Seniors Forum as Secretary.  To honour the memory of her mother, Carlyne, who supported the RNIB, Marilyn has been the area collector for the charity boxes in shops and clubs for over fifteen years and is a staunch supporter of the Mayor of Seafords charity fund - providing catering and refreshments for the charity events.

Nominator and friend, Sam Shippen, wrote: "
Marilyn is a serial volunteer for a wide range of organisations and charities in her local area, I don't know how she finds time to do so much. She is a great friend to all who know her. Her family are exceptionally proud of her loving and giving nature. I cannot think of anyone who deserves a volunteer of the year award more than Marilyn Nolan."

The awards are decided by public vote. To support Marilyn, go to:  http://www.whatson4me.co.uk/award-votes-2012.asp and cast your vote in the Volunteer of the Year category.
