SEAFORD ROTARY CLUB FIGHTS ON AFTER THE DELUGE

July 22 2012.

The Rotary Club of Seaford has pledged to give the Summer Blues the Boot ... and will not even contemplate giving up on its latest charity fund-raising project.

The Rotary's Car Boot, Craft and Farmers Markets have already raised thousands of pounds for good causes, but last month it was .... zero.

For the very first time the event - at soggy, rain-drenched Martello Fields - had to be called off thanks to a deluge of rain.

"We all know the weather has wiped out loads of public events this year," said the club's Fund-raising Committee chairman Bill Pierce, "but when we had to cancel in July it really hurt our pride.

"Yet we also know that the people of Seaford are dead keen to support us in these events, if only the weather would give us a decent break.

"And we hope they will turn out in droves, both sellers and buyers, on Sunday August 12 when the forecasters predict sunshine and warmth at last."

As well as the usual stalls there will be hot and cold refreshments, a bouncy castle and other attractions for the kids, plus Seaford's own Mr Music Man.

Gates open for sellers at 07:30, for buyers at 09:00 and the event finishes at 13:00. Pitch costs is £8, free entry and parking for buyers.
