July 20 2012.

Whether it's the end of the school term, or the recent dreary weather that we've all had to endure - something has impacted upon this weekend, as our traditionally jam-packed weekend preview is a little light on content this time. It's not all quiet in the Haven though, so if you're looking for something to cheer you up whilst waiting for the sun to come out, get out and support your local events and businesses.

Getting the weekend off to fine start, tip-top rock covers band Full House is rocking at The White Hart in Newhaven town centre from 9.00pm this evening. Up the hill at the Hampden Arms in South Heighton and the beat continues with Led Zeppelin tribute group Zeds Dead, also from 9.00pm.

Things calm down slightly on Saturday morning with the Exchange Community Garden open to the public at East Street, Seaford from 10am to noon. For those looking for some sporting fun and action for their youngsters, the Premier Mini Soccer School is holding a fun day at Newlands School, Seaford which will include a wide range of activities including football skills games, inflatable fun area, boxing club display and a gymnastics exhibition. Interested parents can also find out about how to get started with the club.

The big event on Sunday is the second annual Seaford Family Fun Day at the Downs Leisure Centre, Seaford. Headlining on the music front is top local band The Riffz (pictured above) and the day will offer a mix of family fun and entertainment with dance and sports demonstrations, live bands and choir, funfair, community stalls, free cycle tuning, free learn to skate sessions and free family Zumba. Meanwhile, the National Gardens Scheme Open Garden is from 11:00am at Driftwood, 4 Marine Drive, Bishopstone, Seaford and 8 Sandgate Close in Seaford.
