NEWHAVEN KFC OPENS MONDAY WITH 40 NEW JOBS

July 20 2012.

KFC will be opening its new restaurant in Newhaven on Monday 23rd July. The restaurant has created 40 jobs for the local community, and Graham Amy, Mayor of Newhaven, will be on hand to officially cut the ribbon.

The opening of the restaurant at The Drove in Newhaven comes just three months after planning permission was obtained by franchisee K&Z Newhaven Ltd.

The restaurant will open at 10am on 23rd July.

Saf Nanji, the new restaurant general manager, said: "It's great to be offering career opportunities to the local community. The majority of recruits are from Newhaven, with many from Seaford and Peacehaven. Some of the team have been out of work for more than 18 months, so it's great to help them get back into work."

Stacey Pinkney, 21, from Newhaven, is a new trainee team leader who has undergone 12 weeks of training in Hastings. She said: "I'm being given the opportunity to go for real qualifications in hospitality and management. This is a brand new restaurant, an excited new team and a world famous brand. I can't wait to open the doors."

Graham Amy, Mayor of Newhaven, said: "I am delighted that KFC has decided to invest in Newhaven, giving local people career opportunities. This family restaurant will give a much needed boost to our town and I would like to wish them well in this venture."

Advanced Apprenticeships provide Team Leaders with A-level equivalent qualifications in English and Maths, while the company is also introducing Level Two Apprenticeships for 1,600 team members per year. At KFC team members can progress to team leaders within eight weeks, and over 60% of area coaches and restaurant general managers are promoted internally.
