HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

July 6 2012.

What a week! The Newhaven Incinerator is open - but they never invited anyone who might not come. Or indeed anyone who might, apart from the odd, carefully screened and approved bod or two. And, apparently, the Newhaven Incinerator isn't actually called the Newhaven Incinerator. Oh no. The Newhaven Incinerator is in fact called the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility. Yeah right. So what will everyone in the real world call it? That's right. The Newhaven Incinerator. And of course Newhaven's Lewes Road Rec was sold off in a rush to a company that no one appears to know anything about. And we should all be happy about it according to our Lords and Masters in Lewes. But they don't want to tell us why. Well that's all right then... And of course that wasn't the only surprise. Apparently Barclays hasn't been playing fair. Well, well, well. At least the weekend is here and we can all pretend what we matter for a day or two. So get out there and support your local events and businesses and forget about any liars, cheats, thieves and con-men who will surely get what is coming to them one fine day.....

Friday night kicks off with talented local lads Chaz Roe and James Das, 'Chaz & Das', playing their popular mix of covers at The Bay in Seaford from 8.00pm.

Down at The Ark in Newhaven, it's over to the customers to put on the entertainment with Karaoke from 9.00pm. No, no, I can't. Oh go on then....

Up on the hill at the Hampden Arms Folk Rockers Bucklers Reel are back from 9.00pm.

Saturday and it's the Newhaven RNLI Lifeboat Summer Fete at Huggett's Green on the West Quay at Newhaven from 1.00pm to 4.00pm. Newhaven Town Council will be holding a Surgery at the Lifeboat Summer Fete, so get along and let them know what you think about local issues. Like the sale of the rec.....

Back to The Ark in Newhaven and, giving the regulars' vocals a rest, top pub band Full House will be rocking hard, hopefully to an equally full house from 9.00pm.
