HAVEN NEWS WEEKEND PREVIEW

The weekend is here once more and it's time to relax, take it easy and kick back. Or... you could get out there and support your local events and businesses. There is plenty to do, see and join in, so whatever the unpredictable weather throws at us, let's get out there and enjoy it.


As ever, Friday night is music night up at The Hampden Arms in South Heighton and tonight sees the popular return of four-piece rock covers band, Jellyhead, (pictured right), giving it the Max from 9.00pm.

Round the Haven and the VBar is the place to be in Seaford tonight with Pascoe 'n Guests mixing the music. The VBar also asked us to let you know that there is a VBar rock/metal night every Tuesday now with special rock and metal drinks menu.

On to Saturday and a Car Boot Sale at Paradise Park from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Sellers from 8.15am please.

Over in Seaford and the Seaford & District Horticultural Society are getting in early with the Summer Show from 10.30am at St Leonards Church Hall. There are members displays, plant sales, cake sales and refreshments.

On to lunchtime and the Lunchtime Concert at St Leonard's Church starts at 1.00pm. In its fifth year, the Lunchtime Concert Series provides a free hour-long Saturday Concert that residents and visitors alike might enjoy. This Lunchtime Concert is an Organ Recital with David Force, and remains free and self-supporting from the donations given after each concert by the generous audiences.

The action moves to Newhaven for the evening entertainment with The Hope Inn holding a Quiz Night in aid of the Sussex Air Ambulance. Entry £2 per person and top prizes throughout the night from 8.00pm.

Down at The Ark, party band Run2 are supplying this week's sounds, so get along there and party!

Sunday and it's the Tide Mills Monthly Beach Clean-up from 10:00am til noon. Just turn up at Tide Mills and start picking! If in doubt over the weather, check with the website, and local forecasts. It is also the start of St Wilfrid's Hospice Secret Garden Season and from 11:00am to 5:00pm you can visit Driftwood at 4 Marine Drive, Bishopstone, Seaford for an Open Garden event. Don't forget the Seaford Bonfire Society Membership Day and Costume Workshop at The White Lion in Claremont Rd, Seaford from 10.00am to 4.00pm. It's a free event. Just turn up and learn about the Seaford Bonfire Society, become a member, and get some hints and tips on creating your Pirate, Saxon and Smuggler costume to wear at the Bonfire processions throughout Sussex during the Autumn 2012 Bonfire Season. Remember that it's also Father's Day, so get the Old Man out and take him to The Ark to try out the new Summer Menu or over at the Shore Bar they are Rewarding Dads with a £1 main course when any other main meal is purchased. Go on - He deserves it.....
