Thousands of people enjoyed the Seaford Town Council Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at the Martello Fields on Monday. The Mayor of Seaford, Councillor Linda Wallraven, was delighted to introduce the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mr Peter Field,(pictured right), to open the afternoon programme, which included arena displays from dance schools; Up The Tempo, Spoonys Streetdancers and the Nikki Bond Dance School, physical activity displays from Sama Karate, Zumba by Louise Cave and an excellent demonstration using crowd volunteers and resus dolls for resuscitation to the tune of 'Staying Alive' by the Seaford Lifeguards.

The morning had started with a procession of community groups parading along the Seafront, waving to the hundreds of spectators gathered along the route and accompanied by a flotilla of small sailing craft, moving alongside the procession in the sea. The Seaford Brownies, Lions and Lionesses, Air and Army Cadets, Musical Theatre, Bonfire Society, Seaford Twinning Association, Rotary Club and Dance Schools were just a few of those taking part in the parade led by Mayor Wallraven, Young Mayor Amy Gough and Town Crier, Peter White.

Music was provided by the Officials, Seaford Rock and Jazz Orchestra, Seaford Silver Band, Seaford Musical Theatre and Juniors and the Archway Choirs during the day and other highlights included the Seaford Dog Rescue fun dog show, Fantastic 4 Flyball Team, Lionesses Fancy Dress Competition and Alfriston Maypole Dancers.

Daytime community stalls offered visitors tea and cake, Rotary 'Tavern In The Tent', free climbing wall and punch and judy show, fairground rides and much more.

Town Clerk, Sam Shippen, praised the efforts of the staff, volunteers and Councillors in creating the biggest community event ever produced by Seaford Town Council, especially the efforts of Adam Briggs of Sussex Events Ltd and Ben King, Projects and Facilities Officer, who worked tirelessly to make the event a day to remember.

The weather was kind enough to brighten up for the afternoon and evening, allowing hundreds of people to stay and enjoy a music concert with performances by The Riffz, Raising Maisie, Juno, Jo Harman and Co, and Mama's Gun - which was topped off by a laser show by Jo Allen of JPP Limited, set to music, and the Seaford Bonfire Society set off the Jubilee Beacon to the backdrop of a beautiful full moon.
