I agree - I too refuse to pay for parking. Great if I can park on the limited roadside parking, but other than that I give my home town a miss.

I'd like to add that in other ways there is a lot going for Newhaven. We have good public transport, a swimming pool and gym, a library, a nature reserve and fitness path on our doorstep, a ferry and a riverside walk, we are within a short hop to Brighton, Eastbourne or Lewes and yet we can access some of the country's best countryside within minutes. House prices are less than surrounding areas and I think our crime is also less.

Best of all the people of Newhaven have a sense of community in that I only ever experience kind, friendly and courteous encounters.
