The Lewes District Council Planning Committee this evening voted in favour of the Eastside Regeneration plans proposed by the Avalon Newhaven LLP working with Barratt Homes and Asda.

Having suffered a deferral for its application at the Planning Applications Committee in January 2012, the developer and its partners were rewarded with a motion in its favour, after an in-depth five-hour meeting in which both Eastside and Railway Quay plans were considered.

Members of the public packed the Tideway School hall to listen to the debate and finally the Eastside development was proposed by Newhaven Town Councillor Rod Main and seconded by Councillor Davy.
