DENTON JUBI-LYMPICS

May 16 2012.

To celebrate both the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic Games, Denton PCC and the local community are expanding on the Church Fayre format to stage the 2012 Denton Jubi-Lympics at Denton Field on afternoon of June the 9th.

This unique new format is designed to be a real family event, with all proceeds going to St Leonards Church and the James Daniels Memorial Fund, which was set up in November 2005 after James was killed in an accident. The Trustees distribute money to local schools and youth sports clubs.

Newhaven Youth Marching Band will open the proceedings and Chris Baker, pictured right, the lead singer from local band The Fabulous Baker Boys, will be the MC for the day.

Arena events include dog agility, Zumba, the Norcross Dancers and Olympic style events such as the sponge javelin. Local community groups are running various sideshows and there will be model steam train rides, a tug of war, cake stalls and raffles. Refreshments will include baked potatoes with various fillings and the afternoon will end with a community barbeque.

The winners of the Jubi-Lympics will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze rosettes on the Jubi-Lympics podium and there is the opportunity for them to be photographed on the podium and to buy the prints on the day.
