POLICE REQUEST INFOMATION FOLLOWING SEAFORD HOUSE FIRE

April 15 2012.

Detectives are appealing for information following a house fire in Seaford yesterday.

At around 1.45am on Saturday there was a house fire in Eldon Way. Items outside a garage at the address were set alight and the fire spread to the attached bungalow. Fortunately the occupants were able to flee from the property and were not injured, however a large amount of damage was caused.

Police would like to speak to two boys or young men who were seen in the area around the time of the fire.

It is believed that the males may have information which could assist police with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Ross Bartlett of East Sussex CID said: "These two males may have information about how the fire started. They were seen passing the back of the property during the fire and one of them was seen to look over the back of the fence. We are appealing for them to contact police to help us work out what has happened.

"We are looking at the possibility that the fire was deliberately started and anyone doing this may have burnt themselves in the process due to the speed at which the fire took hold. We would also like to hear from anyone who knows someone with unexplained burns to their face, arms or hands.

"This fire put the lives of the occupants at risk and we are keen to get to the bottom of how it started."

The boys are described as white, in the late teens or early 20s, possibly with mousey-coloured hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 152 of 14/4 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
