The sun has been burning throughout the week and although the forecast says it will go into hiding for the weekend now the kids are on holiday, there's no need for you to do the same, because, as ever, there is stacks to do in the Haven area this weekend. And hey, the clouds may just stay over the north side of downs and leave us basking for another day or so...

Get the weekend rocking from the start with Fat Belly Jones making a welcome return to the Hampden Arms up on the hill at South Heighton from around the 8.30pm mark.

Back down on the West Quay at Newhaven, The Ark has free pool from 5.00pm and double vodkas for £3.50. Dance Nation presents the Karaoke, Famous for Four Minutes competition at The Ship Hotel in Newhaven High Street from 8.00pm.

If you Newhaveners work it right you could start the evening with a free game of pool at The Ark, skip up the road to the Hillcrest Centre for the weekly ballroom dancing, glide back down to The Ship and belt out your favourite song and then get back to The Ark for your double vodka and a splash.

Over at the Seaford end of the Haven the weekend starts at 6.00pm with the Sporting Seaford Exhibition at the Martello Tower and the Seaford Musical Society Concert with the Navarra String Quartet playing works by Haydn, Brahms and Schubert from 7.15pm at the Cross Way Centre.
